Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently seeking an Administrative/Accounting Clerk in Stockton, CA. This position provides administrative and accounting support.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • General clerical assistance to the Finance department, Human Resources department and the General Manager.
  • Responsible for reception and telephone duties, including signing for front office packages.
  • Responsible for sorting and distributing mail.
  • Compiles, sorts, and files documents, such as invoices, checks, substantiating business transactions.
  • Audits invoices against purchase orders, research discrepancies.
  • Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
  • Maintains accounts payable files and other files.
  • Processes and monitors accounts payable to ensure that payments are timely.
  • Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.
  • Codes data for input to accounting processing system according to company procedures.
  • Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections.
  • Research and solve payment discrepancies.
  • Provide administrative support for the General Manager and Manager of Finance and Administration to include telephone coverage, copier projects, mail handling, supplies control and necessary communications internally and externally.
  • Business errands using company vehicle.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by General Manager and Manager of Finance and Administration.
  • The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.

  • Interfaces on a daily basis with all levels and departments of the company.
  • Interfaces daily with the public, suppliers, contractors and client.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • A High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Business school, Associate’s degree or equivalent is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Must be proficient in MS word, excel, and the Internet.
  • Operate 10-key calculator by touch.
  • Accurate data entry.
  • Favorable driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; uses time efficiently; maintains confidentiality; identifies and solves problems in a timely manner.
  • A professional appearance and telephone manner are essential.
  • Must have good knowledge of the English language, oral and written.
  • Ability to interface well with all departments of the company in a highly professional manner, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to effectively change tasks at a moment’s notice when the situation requires.


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis
