Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Track Superintendent in Dallas, TX to work on the DART Silverline Commuter Rail Design/Build.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Supervise the track construction effort (both our own craft & subcontractors) to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with Owner representatives and subcontractors.
  • In addition to track construction, scope may include: grading, railroad grade crossings, drainage, material receiving/inspection, crane pick evaluations etc.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control)
  • Supervise craft employees and/or other subcontractors as required by the contract.
  • Ensure craft employees and subcontractors are working safely; promote the Project Safety Culture. Safety is our #1 Priority.
  • Review purchase requisitions, which may include small tools, consumables, permanent materials, etc.
  • Assist Project Construction Manager with owned/rented equipment needs & utilization.
  • Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
  • Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, environmental compliance, etc. Document all violations, notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
  • Responsible for knowing the budget and production rates and striving to meet/exceed them.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Assist Project Construction Management team in the development and maintenance of the project schedule and Look Ahead schedules.
  • Schedule necessary inspections per contract documents.
  • Represent Herzog in the most positive and professional manner with respect to clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, Herzog/JV employees, and the community we serve.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Perform additional assignments per Supervisor’s direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Construction Management/Civil Engineering degree preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 10 years in Railroad track construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of railroad track construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, cost control schedules and safety required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential.
  • Team building skills.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office.

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle. 
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat
  • Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow; hear and distinguish auditory signals.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
