Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Communications Supervisor in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Providing general oversight and direction to your team of Communications Technicians.
  • Ensure all testing and inspections are performed and schedules are managed per Metrolink Standard, FCC regulation, and CPUC code. 
  • Assist in mentoring and training of communications, PTC and signal staff to ensure a cross functional team continually develops with new and existing technology. 
  • Develop initiatives and perform or assist with local projects (communications and PTC based) on the Metrolink property.
  • Ability to work with Dispatch and Network Specialists at the DOC or MOC to ensure troubleshooting is timely and all processes followed and improved when needed. 
  • Ensure the team of technicians properly inspects, maintain, trouble-shoot and repair all property radios, communications circuits, towers and stations.  Then record the findings including the results from above in accordance with FCC standards and local regulations.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience with the job briefing process and equipment/system specifications
  • Experience with Material & Product knowledge and RWP/GCOR
  • Ability to use electrical repair tools, cutting/power tools
  • Mechanical Dexterity
  • Understand electrical/mechanical drawings
  • Able to troubleshoot Railroad Signaling Circuits & Equipment
  • Valid driver license (CDL), preferred
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing using the English language.

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

 

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements for this position.

  • Regularly lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Lift and transfer weight up to 70 pounds for a distance of up to 100 feet.
  • Work in extreme all-weather conditions; uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile.
  • Regularly ascend and descend an 18 step ladder with up to 25 pounds. Frequently climb on/off equipment.
  • Regularly push/pull with a body force of up to 50 pounds.
  • Use hands to regularly grasp or squeeze wrenches, switches requiring force up to 60 pounds.
  • Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow; hear and distinguish auditory signals.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Work in a confined access/space environment as narrow as 18 inches.
