Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently looking for a Dispatch Supervisor in Pompano Beach, FL.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Manager Dispatch/Operations.
  • Direct supervision of Train Dispatch and Operations Center offices and staff.
  • Provide supervision and oversight to all employees and contractors on Tri-Rail.
  • Train and ensure all Train Dispatchers are fully qualified in their duties and that they perform in a safe and effective manner adhering to all company policies and safety rules (Ops Efficiency Testing).
  • Provide training for Transportation Specialists.
  • Provide performance reviews & discuss deficiencies and improvement plans.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain on-time performance (OTP), & internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Perform job briefings with Maintenance of Way & Signal, as needed.
  • Define, document, problem solve and manage processes and procedures to protect both revenue commuter service, freight service, Amtrak service and construction/maintenance activities and performance goals.
  • Provide manpower planning for train dispatchers and transportation specialists.
  • Cover train dispatcher shifts as may be necessary.
  • Manage service interruptions and provide assistance to dispatch and operations center.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer two years of college, equivalent experience, or bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have experience as a Chief Dispatcher or Train Dispatcher.
  • Commuter Rail experience and knowledge of railroad operations, dispatching and transportation operations and experience integrating construction/maintenance activities with revenue services.
  • Knowledge of Railroad Operating Rules, & FRA regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to communicate clearly both verbally, and in writing, with both internal and external organizations.


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as a required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
