Herzog Railroad Services Inc. is currently seeking a Software Engineer I in St. Joseph, MO.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain existing projects as well as implementing new features in existing software.



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Degree in a Computer Science related field or equivalent work experience
  • Familiar with object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C#, VB, Python, C++, Ruby, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Experience with C#, VB, SQL and WPF is preferred.
  • Experience with ASP.Net MVC, JavaScript, HTML and CSS is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with ORMs such as Entity Framework or LLBLGen is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience managing Microsoft SQL Servers is preferred, but not required.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Visual Studio, Subversion and Redmine is preferred, but not required.
  • Graphic or UI design experience is preferred, but not required.


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Pass and maintain e-RAILSAFE pre-employment background check and safety certification.
  • Subject to motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
