Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Cost Engineer for the Kansas City Streetcar Project in Kansas City, MO.


Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Maintain issues log in project controls database
  • Maintain change order log in project controls database
  • Maintain potential change order log in project controls database
  • Maintain and update project budget codes as necessary
  • Review and approval of subcontractor invoices
  • Coordinate with Sr Field Engineer to ensure that updated cost codes are distributed to the field.
  • Estimate Change Orders and ensure that Change Order budgets are distributed to the correct project codes
  • Coordinate monthly Estimated Cost at Completion projections with Superintendents and Field Engineers.
  • Maintain T&M/Allowance Log
  • Produce T&M/Allowance Billing Packages
  • Assist w/ Progress Payment Billings as needed
  • Assist w/ Contracts
  • Coordinate w Superintendents and Field Engineers to ensure accurate cost and quantity reporting, including but not limited to budget and cost transfers.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Four-year engineering degree preferred, not required
  • PC proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, internet software, and project management software. Strong communication, partnering and technical writing skills;
  • Willing to work as an active team member in a fluid and fast paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of resource monitoring techniques i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating, plus basic understanding of construction technology, process systems and/or structures required.


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
